DMC is a thermosetting mixutre of unsaturated polyester
resins, shrink control additives, fillers, colour pigments,
curing agents and chopped strand glassfibre. Varying
the quantities of each component gives a product able
to meet the demands of different industries and applications.
The management team’s vast experience within the
moulding and compounding business has enabled the Moorland
group of companies to gain entry into new markets.
DMC can be compression or injection moulded at temperatures
of 130 to 150 degrees centigrade, to produce parts for
the automotive, industrial, construction and utility
sectors.
At its highly efficient, semi-automated, manufacturing
facility near Stoke-on-Trent, Moorland Compounds produces
a wide range of high performance DMCs including high
impact, physically robust and fire retardant grades,
providing the quality and competitiveness demanded by
today`s customers and product specifications.
The company purchases raw materials from leading global
suppliers and is able to utilise their competences and
technical capabilities. Added to the wealth of knowledge
and experience of its own management, this allows Moorland
Compounds to quickly meet market demands for new products
and applications.
A typical example of a performance DMC would have the
following physical characteristics
Charpy Impact Strength > 30 kJ/m2
Flexural strength > 90 mPa
Flexural modulus >10 gPa
Fire retardancy Class 2 BS476 Part 7
Using its full range of in-house testing equipment,
every single batch of DMC is fully inspected to ensure
it conforms to the customer`s specification.
